Star Wars Cupcakes

May the fourth be with you. Come to the Syosset library and celebrate Star Wars Day with themed cupcakes. Attendees will learn how to mold different Star Wars characters with fondant. Everyone will take home their creations to enjoy. This teen event runs from 7 to 8:15 p.m. in meeting room B/C. Open to teens in grades six through 12.

Movie: Life Itself

The Jericho library presents a 2 p.m. showing of the enthralling documentary film Life Itself. This film recounts the life and death of world-renowned film critic and social commentator Roger Ebert in stunning and heart-breaking detail. Starring Roger Ebert, Chaz Ebert and Gene Siskel. Rated R.

Short Story Reading Group

The Syosset library hosts this event for adults led by experienced ESL teacher, Benita Miller. Short stories will be read, discussed and analyzed in a small group setting. This adult program takes place from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in board room A.

The Comedy Of Motherhood With Ira Epstein

Come to the Syosset library and join in this comical tribute to mothers including skits by Erma Bombeck, Bill Cosby, Mike Nichols and Elaine May, Kaye Ballard, Bette Walker and poems, musical songs and parodies that put mothering in a funny perspective and lets us appreciate in a humorous manner what we owe our mothers. This event takes place from 2 to 3:15 p.m. in the theater.

Movie: Big Eyes

The Jericho library presents a 2 p.m. showing of the film Big Eyes. In this biography/drama, director Tim Burton’s drama focuses on the awakening of artist Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties with her husband who claimed credit for her work. Starring Amy Adams, Christoph Waltz and Krysten Ritter. Rated PG-13.
