May 16-22 is Safe Boating Week 2015. As boating season approaches, the United States Power Squadrons and other organizations are spreading the message of safe and responsible boating, including the importance of life jackets, safety equipment, boating laws, environmental issues, boat handling and how to navigate safely and responsibly.
The “Wear It” campaign increases boater awareness to the importance of life jackets and demonstrates that modern designs can be more stylish, comfortable and even safer than the old designs that many boaters picture when discussing life jackets. Each year, U.S. Coast Guard accident statistics prove how important life jackets are by demonstrating the increased accident survival rates for people wearing them over those without them. Learn the rules, have the right equipment and wear an approved life jacket, because the life you save may be your own.
