Everyone always knew that the Gold Coast Arts Center (formerly the Great Neck Arts Center) has continually supported the arts and introduced new and exciting mediums to residents of all ages. Well, now the Arts Center has added a wonderful and fun new class, learning to enjoy performing with hula hoops. Yes, that’s right, those old-fashioned, fun hoops that were the highlight of childhood days for so many people.
Now the Gold Coast Arts Center introduces Samantha Witt, a hula hoop artist and dancer. Witt also has a duo lyra act with The Hoopla Girls.
Witt is well-educated and well-versed in dance and music. Her dance education is full and complete. She earned a BFA in dance with a concentration in jazz performance from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She started off as a dancer and then fell in love with the world of circus when she toured nationally and internationally with Cirque Le Masque. She has also toured with Cirque Legacy and has worked with companies such as Cirque du Jour, The Bindlestiff Cirkus, Skyz The Limit and Phoenix Entertainment.
Witt’s performances are impressive. She has performed at Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza, as well as at corporate events and special events. She has also been seen hooping on The Dr. Oz Show, the YouTube Music Awards with musical artist M.I.A, and in M.I.A’s live performance at Terminal 5 NYC.
Add all this education and all of the amazing performances and the Gold Coast Arts Center is lucky and so proud to add Samantha Witt to its solid and talented list of instructors. Witt loves to teach as well as to perform. She has taught dance and circus-style hula hooping across the tri-state area and loves to share her love of dance and circus with others.
The next session of Samantha Witt’s innovative hula hoop class at the Gold Coat Arts Center will start this coming September 2015.
The GCAC is located at 113 Middle Neck Rd. in bustling, downtown Great Neck Plaza. The entrance is in the back of the building, via the municipal parking lot.
