On Thursday, April 16, Fran Stertz, a representative from “We Care Blankets,” came to the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center to collect over 25 blankets that were knitted and crocheted by a group of seniors. “We Care Blankets,” which started in 1999, strives to give every child who is undergoing cancer treatments a blanket. These blankets are distributed to area hospitals and appreciated by the children their families who receive them. The knitting and crochet club meets every Monday at 10 a.m. at the Center, 80 Manorhaven Blvd.
