Mayor Kreitzman has been a valuable resource to help get important local government legislation passed in Albany. In my opinion, his position on the executive board of New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) and the Nassau County Village Officials Association (NCVOA), coupled with his vast knowledge of village law and governance has earned the respect of elected officials throughout the state.
On three separate occasions, I asked Mayor Kreitzman to come to Albany. Ralph showed up at the Capitol to lobby legislative leadership for the following issues: to extend the use of lever voting machines for schools, villages and special districts; when the threat of village consolidation was very real; and when I needed to persuade the State for more budget aid to localities. In no small measure, his presence helped achieve these goals. His team has been an effective asset to fight for local government and local control, when New York State tries everything to diminish it.
