Farmingdale residents Debra Fiore, Mridul Mohta and Hope Casey Crucilla have earned the Student Award for Academic Excellence (SAAE) from Farmingdale State College. Fiore graduated with a Biology degree, Mohta received a B.S in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Crucilla was a Horticultural Technology Management major.
The SAAE is given to the top two students in each degree, based on their GPA, performance in research, internships, student projects and contribution to department clubs and honor societies.
Fiore is a graduate of Half Hollow Hills East High School; Mohta attended Deepika E.M. School in India and Casey went to Kings Park Senior High School.
Fiore is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and the Biology Honor Society (Tri Beta). She won a Long Island Italian-American scholarship, and works at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
Mohta is a 4.0 GPA student. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering.
Crucilla is a winner of the Syosset Garden Club’s Peg Rerek Scholarship, and a volunteer at the Long Island Orchid Society’s annual show.
The students were nominated by their department’s faculty.
