Obituary: Joan Mary Burke

On May 24, 2015, longtime Garden City resident (1963-2005) and devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church passed away.
While raising a family, Joan worked at Publishers Clearing House for more than 30 years while completing her degree from Adelphi University. Joan Mary Burke (nee Bond) beloved mother of Claudia Burke Manoogian of McLean VA., Pamela Burke O’Neil of Owings Mills, MD, and Kerry Burke Kahn of Rockville Centre, NY; dear grandmother of Kellie M. Thompson, Erik and Keith Larson; Thomas, III, Stephen, Michael and the late Christopher O’Neil; and Jennifer, Christopher and Tyler Kahn. Joan is also a great grandma to seven children.
Joan resided in Baltimore for the past nine years and as such, a Memorial Mass will be offered at Immaculate Conception Church in Towson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Christopher O’Neil Memorial Fund c/o Baltimore Community Foundation at www.bcf.org/ONeil in Joan’s name.
