Boxcar Lilies Concert
The Boxcar Lilies, made up of Stephanie Marshall, Jenny Goodspeed and Katie Clarke, will perform at 8 p.m. at Garden City’s Our Times Coffeehouse. The trio create spine-tingling harmonies as part of their signature mix of folk, country and bluegrass-tinged Americana music. Accompanying themselves on guitar, clawhammer banjo, electric bass and washboard, the Western Massachusetts-based band has brought their uniquely warm sound and energetic stage presence to venues up and down the Eastern seaboard including the Iron Horse Music Hall, Club Passim, Caffe Lena, and Philadelphia’s Tin Angel. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. that evening for ticket sales. The suggested donations are $15 adults and $10 students with ID; sorry, no presales are available. Our Times Coffeehouse is in the Ethical Humanist Society building, 38 Old Country Rd., two miles west of Meadowbrook Parkway next to the blue water tower. Marvelous Movie Matinée
A screening of the 1956 musical Carousel starring Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. The event will be held in Meeting Room B. Summer Kick-Off Show: The Comical Jugglers: The Gizmo Guys
The library invites the community to come down at 7 p.m. for its Summer Kick-Off Show, The Comical Jugglers: The Gizmo Guys. This fun show is open to children ages 2 ½ through grade 5 and their families. Tickets are required. Registration for tickets online began on Monday, June 15 at 9:30 a.m. on Eventkeeper (www.gardencitypl.org ). Please include the “Number of Tickets Needed” on your registration form. Each individual needs his or her own ticket to attend. Please arrive promptly. If you’re late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list.
