A 22-year-old bicyclist was killed when he was struck by an SUV in his hometown of Brentwood on Wednesday morning.

Suffolk County police said Amilcar Mejia Alvarado was riding his bike southbound on Washington Avenue when he was hit by an eastbound Ford Escape at the corner of Express Drive South at 7:45 a.m.

The victim was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.

Third Squad detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-854-8352.
