Friday Night Promenade
Every Friday during the summer, Seventh Street will be closed for the “Friday Night Promenades”, from 6 until 10 p.m. There will outdoor dining, live entertainment, face painting, balloon animals and much more on Seventh Street. Shops will remain open during the evening for everyone’s convenience.

Marvelous Movie Matinée
A screening of the 1955 musical Oklahoma starring Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. The event will be held in Meeting Room B. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza Party
Registration began June 15 online on Eventkeeper for the first YA summer program, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza Party, to be held from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Everyone knows that the four superhero Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love to eat pizza. Make pizza samples with the Baking Coach and take home a personal pie at the conclusion of this program. Register early. This program is limited to 25 YAs. Art With Liane Mallon
Come participate in Art with Liane Mallon at the Garden City Public Library. At 11 a.m., she will hold the program Superhero Costumes for children ages 2½-5 (not entering kindergarten in fall 2015) with an adult caregiver. Children in grades K-2 in fall 2015 will make Superhero Masks at 1 p.m. and children in grades 3-5 in fall 2015 will make Superhero Paintings at 2 p.m. Registration began Monday, June 22 on Eventkeeper (www.gardencitypl.org ). Each child participating in the program will need his or her own library card to register for the program. You must do a separate registration for each child you wish to attend the program. Please arrive promptly. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Frogs, Bugs, And Animals With Jason From Green Meadows Farm
Learn more about animals at the fun family show, Frogs, Bugs, and Animals with Jason from Green Meadows Farm at the Garden City Public Library. This exciting live animal show will be held at 7 p.m. and is for children ages 2 ½ through grade 5 and their families. Tickets are required. Comic Book Clocks
Registration began June 17 online on Eventkeeper for Comic Book Clocks to be held on from 7 to 8 p.m. Doris Benter of Library Arts will teach YAs how to make a working battery operated clock, which will be decorated with comic strips and decoupage. Talent Show
The Garden Cityt y Library’s Children’s Room is proud to be hosting its annual talent show again this summer. Sign up and show off your talents or come to the show to see the all the wonderful performers. Registration to perform in the talent show began on June 22. Performers must be Garden City residents and must be entering Grades k to 5 in fall 2015. Performances are limited to five minutes each. The talent show will be held on two nights at 7 p.m. The first night will be Wednesday, July 15 and the second night will be Wednesday, July 22.
Defensive Driving Courses
Six-hour course are conducted by AAA at Homewood Suites by Hilton located at 40 Westbury Ave. in Carle Place. Save money; reduce violation points; sharpen skills.
