The Bar Harbour Auditorium will show a 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. screening of the movie A Most Violent Year. An ambitious immigrant fights to protect his business and family in 1981 New York City, one of the most dangerous years in the city’s history. Abel Morales (Oscar Isaac) has a lucrative oil-delivery service but beset by rivals who want his business and a D.A. who wants to take him down, Abel is driven to desperate measures to save his company and protect his family. Starring: Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain and David Oyelowo (2014; R 2 hrs).

Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Our volunteers sort, pack and ship items to send to the troops. Feel free to drop off donations in person or to just have a cup of coffee and help out. Looking for personal care items, seasonings and hot sauces and items other than candy. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knight of Columbus Council, 2 Eastgate Rd., Massapequa Park.
Seaford Farmer’s Market
Enjoy the large selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, olive oils, seafoods, wines, baked goods, herbs, sauces, spices, dessert sauces, vinegars, homemade pies and more. AARP Defensive Driving
Save money on your insurance by taking defensive driving from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bar Harbour auditorium. Fee is $20 for AARP members; $25 for nonmembers. Cedar Creek Movie Night
Come to Cedar Creek Park for a screening of Despicable Me at 8:30 p.m. Bring your friends and some movie snacks for a night of fun and laughs at this free event. The park is located off of Merrick Road in Seaford.

St. William the Abbot is holding its 39th annual family festival from July 8-12. There will be rides, games, food, entertainment and a 50/50 raffle.
