On July 7, the Nassau County Board of Elections tallied the last contested ballots in the June 16 election for the two Manorhaven Village trustees. The final result of the election, after the opening of the final ballots, was: Rita Di Lucia (438), Jim Avena (416), Lucretia Steele (415) and John Popeleski (411). However, the village clerk has not sworn in the new trustees as she informed the Port Washington News that Steele filed an appeal in the Appellate Division, Second Department, in Brooklyn on July 9. The date of the appeal had not been set at press time.
