IMG_0293On Feb. 10, 1976, the Mineola American reported that the Mineola School Board decided it would close the Willis Avenue School. The central office staff said provisions for special education and the same or better quality of all instruction would be carried on within the four elementary school buildings. The board transferred the Willis Avenue School Principal Joan Urbas to Mineola High School as a reading teacher.
