Adult Programs

Deck chairs are outside the library. You are welcome to relax and enjoy the outdoor deck for the whole summer.

Museum Passes

Medicare Savings Plan
Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2 to 4 p.m. Join Marty Pereira for coverage on staying current on your medicare insurance. He will provide you with a great deal of useful information about Medicare.

Solar Energy, Myth And Facts
Monday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Learn about: What is PV Solar Energy; Homeowner’s Option on Solar Energy; Governmental Rebates and Tax Credits; and Educational Resources. Please join for information on how one can benefit from using solar energy to one’s best advantage.

Coney Island: A History
Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. Explore the legendary and colorful past of Coney Island, the “World’s Playground” with archivist Jennifer Garland. Based on Charles Denson’s book, Coney Island: Lost & Found, and other sources, the talk will focus on the settlement of Coney Island, the rise of the resort and amusement area, and the decline and comeback of the neighborhood. A slideshow and memorabilia will be displayed.

Russian Art During World War II
Friday, Sept. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Art Historian Evelyn Silver from the Nassau Museum of Art will take us on a fascinating journey through the propaganda posters and art of the Russian Revolution and World War II. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon at an entertaining and educational presentation.

Reiki Lecture And Healing Circle
Saturdays, Sept. 19 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. to noon. Join Karen Centola and Kathleen Gunning, two Reiki Master/Teachers for these programs on the many benefits of the gentle healing art of Reiki.

St. Francis Hospital Community Van
Thursday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Staff from St. Francis Hospital will be doing simple Cardiac and Diabetic Testing. First come, first served.

Youth Programs
Adopt-a-Shelf Volunteers; Book Review Volunteers; Toy Paramedics Volunteers: grades 6-12, open registration.

Video Game Tournament
Thursdays, Sept. 17, Oct. 29, 4 to 5:30 p.m. Kids and teens 6-12 grades may sign up to attend. Enter a video game tournament, enjoy some snacks, play new games. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each tournament.

Graphic Novel Club
Tuesdays, Sept. 22, Oct. 27, Nov. 24, 4 to 5 p.m. Kids and Teens 6-12 grade may sign up to attend. Discover what’s new in the world of graphic novels, manga and anime. Refreshments will be served and prizes will be raffled off.

Children’s Programs

LEGO Builders Club
Mondays Sept. 14, Oct. 19, and Nov. 9 at 4:30 p.m. Kindergarten and up may sign up for all three sessions. Create unique structures with our Lego pieces and meet others who love to LEGO.

Junior Chefs: Super Pizza
Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. Grades three and up may sign up to attend. Decorate a slice of pizza with the Superman or Supergirl “S” symbol, using round slices of pepperoni! May contain food allergens.

All For Fall
Monday, Sept. 21 at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7:15 p.m. Choose one session. Ages 2 and up may sign up for both sessions. Celebrate fall with stories, leaf rubbings, create a nature collecting jar and enjoy a fall snack.

Everything But The Oink
Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 4:30 p.m. Ages 3 and up may register to attend. Join the Suffolk County Farm and learn why pigs are the most useful animals on the farm. If available, a visit from piglets is included.
