The Lutheran Church of Our Savior will continue its concert series, presenting Michele Stern and Kenta Nomura, on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.
Stern began her violin studies at age 3 with her mother, Anna Heifetz, a distinguished violinist and teacher, and currently studies violin with Professor Ann Setzer at the Juilliard School Precollege Division.
She has won numerous awards and honors including first prize at the American Protégé Concerto.
As a grand prize winner of Concert Festival International Competition, Stern appeared as a soloist with the Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra performing the Saint Saens Violin Concerto in B minor.
Violinist Nomura, 16, has won numerous competitions including the first prize in the New York Music Competition, Morgan Park Music Competition, National Young Artist Concerto Competition, Concert Festival Concerto Competition, Long Island University Concerto Competition and Children Orchestra Society Senior Discovery Concerto Competition. He started playing violin at the age of four.
Nomura’s teachers include Mr.Hisaichi Shimura, Dr.Dale Stuckenbruck and Mr.Anton Polezhayev. Currently, he is studying with Dr. Ann Setzer and Mr.Khullip Jeung at Juilliard School Precollege division. Nomura is also studying from Maestro Adam Glaser at Juilliard.
