Drexel Avenue students recently got items to help them succeed thanks to the generosity of donors, and the leadership of a local Wheatley
School student.
Jeffrey Wu, a junior, along with his brother, Justin, a sophomore, head up Supplies 4 Kids, which holds school supply drives for Nassau County schools. The brothers decided they wanted to help the Westbury community, and placed donation boxes at various office building sites. They collected backpacks, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, notebooks, Post-it notes, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, folders, baby wipes, tissues, pencil bags and supply boxes for Drexel students and dropped them off at the beginning of the school year.
“It is refreshing to see a young man be committed to helping others, especially young children,” said Drexel Avenue Principal Dr. Wanda Toledo. “He is a role model for others to emulate. The children at Drexel Avenue School are most appreciative.”
