Halloween is approaching quickly and there’s really only a few weeks left to find the perfect costume. With the millions of costume options out there, it can be a challenge to choose just the right one. Check out some of these costumes suggestions for a little help in the decision-making process.
With Star Wars returning to the silver screen this December, it is safe to assume that the characters from this beloved film franchise will be popular costumes this Halloween. Dress as old favorites, such as Darth Vader and Princess Leia, or try something a little different by dressing up as the eerie Kylo Ren.
The superhero franchise has been booming in the last few years. Every few months a new Marvel or DC film is hitting theaters. With this in mind, you cannot go wrong wearing a superhe-ro costume for Halloween this year. A group costume would be a fun way to go about the super-hero look. Dress up as the Avengers, or take a darker approach by mimicking the looks of the Suicide Squad, whose film will be released in 2016. These characters will, of course, also be great as solo costumes.
Computer-animated films have been growing in popularity within the last decade as well. Luckily for all the children who crowd into theaters to see these films, their favorite characters can be purchased as costumes in almost any Halloween store. Big Hero 6 just missed the Halloween season last year, as it was released in November, but the film’s characters have been showing up on a number of Halloween costume sites for this year. After all, who wouldn’t want to give candy to the big, loveable Baymax?
The Pixar film Inside Out caught the attention of not only children this summer when it was released, but also young adults. Some emotion costumes are sure to be seen among the chil-dren and teen Halloween scene this year. The minions are also loved by people of all ages. Although the Minions film was a bit of a flop, the cute, yellow characters are a popular Halloween costume.
Big screen characters aren’t the only ones who make great Halloween costumes; celebrities can also be fun to mimic. Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Kayne West and Miley Cyrus are most likely the top candidates for celebrity Halloween costumes this year.
Still, some prefer to stay away from pop-culture when choosing costumes, so luckily there are Halloween classics that will never go out of style. Period costumes are among these. You can’t go wrong dressing as a classy Renaissance princess or a daring 1920s flapper. Egyptian pharaoh and Roman gladiator costumes are also favorites, and they look great on men and women of all ages. Fairytale characters are always popular costumes, as well. Little Red Riding Hood, Tinker Bell and Alice in Wonderland look great within a group costume or just on their own.
And when you want to get creative, DIY costumes are the way to go. You can paint your face white and wear all black to go as a black-and-white film star. You and a group may also want to dress as spring, summer, winter and fall to resemble the four seasons. Or maybe you would prefer to frighten friends in a self-made zombie costume. If you tear up your clothes and buy the right makeup, this look is fairly simple to achieve. DIY costumes are a great way to stand out.
