New sneakers and back-to-school supplies to kick-off the school year

SCA Project Share’s goal is to bring a smile to a child right here in the Manhasset community and with the generosity of the Munsey Park Women’s Club, Raindew, and Modells Sporting Goods, Project Share was able to provide many economically-challenged children within the school district both back to school supplies and sneakers to kick off the school year.

In June, the Munsey Park Women’s Club (MPWC) Philanthropic Inc. hosted the 6th Annual Fun Run and Fair and selected Project Share as the primary beneficiary. This hugely successful event had the support of many community members.

Erin Cunningham, copresident of the MPWC said, “We are so proud to be partnered with Project Share to bring much needed funds to an important community cause.”

After receiving such a substantial donation Project Share worked with local merchants to help defray the costs of the larger purchases. Raindew Family Centers and Pharmacy provided a significant discount on the purchase of back-to-school supplies and delivered the many boxes of school supplies to each of the Manhasset Elementary Schools at no additional cost.

Gloria Bordeman, owner of Raindew Family Centers and Pharmacy enthusiastically expressed, “Raindew is honored to be able to partner with Project Share to continue their efforts in making sure all children receive the necessary school supplies for the upcoming school year.”

Modell’s Sporting Goods in Lake Success provided a meaningful donation for the purchase of the sneakers. Both merchants have been very generous supporters of Project Share for several years.
Jennifer Barbieri-Smith, social worker for Manhasset Public Schools went on to say, “On behalf of the Manhasset Social Work Department, we would like to personally thank the Munsey Park Women’s Club, Modells and Raindew for their ongoing support and generous donation to families in our community. Generosity such as yours has enabled us to meet the new challenges that arise each year for many families in our community. Through your donations, students ages 5- to 18-years-old were able to purchase new school shoes, clothing items and school supplies for the upcoming year.”

The SCA Project Share is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit committee whose goal is to provide children and families in need in the schools and community with simple basic items.

Project Share is completely volunteer based and relies solely on donations. Project Share has provided families with items such as food, clothing, shoes and bedding and making a difference in the everyday life of many families in the Manhasset community.
