Veterans Brick 26 Monument Dedication Nov. 8

Brick26Nassau County Veterans Service Agency (VSA) Director Ralph Esposito, local officials and members of the nonprofit organization Brick 26 Board at a Brick 26 Monument Dedication in Eisenhower Park on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m.

The Brick 26 Board hosts “Challenge Races” named for the 5-pound bricks that most participants carry throughout a 5k or 10k trek. More than $30,000 in proceeds from Brick 26 events has been donated to non-profit veteran groups. As the initial Brick 26 Challenge was held in Eisenhower Park, the Brick 26 Board chose this site for the donation of the Brick 26 Monument.

The monument itself is a series of towers set vertically in the ground in the form of large bricks, representing the bricks that participants carry in the challenge race. The Brick 26 organization is continuing to raise money for veterans by selling each small brick on the tower for $100, of which $92 is donated to non-profit veteran groups. The organization then engraves a brick with the name and rank of the veteran you wish to honor on the monument, along with their years served and division of the United States Armed Forces.

A limited number of bricks are still available for purchase. Information on the sale of bricks can be found at www.brick26.org
