Brendan Murphy, a fifth-grade student at Sousa, was awarded a certificate of gratitude and appreciation for his support of the Port Washington Veterans of Foreign War on Dec. 23. Two Vietnam veterans, Jerry Tedeschi and Peter Ripullone, presented Murphy with a plaque commending him for his generous act of kindness at the Memorial Day Ceremony earlier in the year. 
Murphy purchased and sold cold drinks at the Memorial Day ceremony and donated all of his profits to the Port Washington VFW Henderson-Marino Post 1819. For more information about the VFW, go to www.portwashingtonvfw.com.
