After 35 years of service to the Great Neck Library, Janet Fine, department head of Circulation and Computer Services, retired at the end of last month.

In 1981, Fine was hired as a part-time librarian in Reference by the Great Neck Library. That was the beginning of 35 years of uninterrupted, committed and dedicated service. Fine was quickly promoted to Circulation department head, and later also became department head of Computer Services.

At the Dec. 15 board meeting, Board of Trustees President Marietta DiCamillo offered her heartfelt thanks to Fine for all of her hard work and dedication to the library and the community. DiCamillo presented Fine with flowers and a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the entire board.

“Janet, you have always conducted yourself as a professional. You continue to make the Great Neck Library look good and you truly are a role model,” said DiCamillo, who went on to say of Fine, “she continues to provide this community with great service. No job is too big or too small. Janet has undertaken so many tasks and completed them expediently and successfully. She does her job seamlessly, she makes it look easy, and without her support and knowledge we would not have been as successful when we needed to relocate out of the main building. Janet, you will not be soon forgotten. On behalf of the board of trustees of the Great Neck Library, thank you.” The Great Neck Library staff also wished all the best for Janet in her retirement.
