Green Prince Viewing

Green_12716On Thursday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m., Temple Sinai of Roslyn will present The Green Prince, a film that offers an inside look into Hamas terrorism. The subject of this documentary is about the life of a Hamas leader’s son. Snowdate is Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

This award-winning, historical documentary film is about the life of Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of a Hamas founder, who worked for 10 years as an informant for the Shin Bet, Israel’s secret service. Why would a young man who was raised with a legacy of terror work for his father’s sworn enemy? As Yousef comments in the film’s trailer, “Allah had other plans for me”. That’s the focus of this movie, which has won awards from the Sundance Film Festival, the Israeli Film Academy and more.

The film is based on Yousef’s autobiography, titled Son of Hamas: A Gripping Account of Terror, Betrayal, Political Intrigue and Unthinkable Choices. Both the memoir and the film follow Yousef’s life from Israel to the United States, where the author converted to Christianity and currently lives.
