Unqua Elementary School fourth-graders in Peggy Meininger’s class learned about Chinese culture and traditions as they celebrated the Year of the Monkey. The class worked with an interactive map and viewed artwork, photographs and artifacts from their teacher’s trips abroad.
The students created bookmarks depicting fingerprint monkeys and the Chinese proverb, “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,” on special red and gold paper for good luck. They also practiced writing Chinese characters and finished the day with monkey cupcakes. Gung Hay Fat Choy!
