Three trustees on the Mineola Union Free School District’s Board of Education were honored by the New York State School Boards Association at the district’s Feb. 11 board of education meeting. 
Trustee Nicole Matzer received the NYSSBA School Board U Board Mastery Award, trustee Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion, PhD received the Board Excellence Award and trustee Brian Widman received the Board Achievement Award for their participation in the NYSSBA Leadership Development program.
NYSSBA’s School Board U Recognition program is designed to recognize the extensive time and effort of school board members who strive to continually expand their governance knowledge and skills.
The trio was honored by a New York State School Boards Association Area 11 representative with a certificate for their accomplishments.
