Frank Paul Nuzzolese passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at the age of 89. He leaves behind his beloved wife Hendrika (Rita) Nuzzolese, to whom he was married for 65 years. Together, Frank and Rita have four daughters: Diane Nuzzolese, Linda Prudente, Connie Zaccherio and the late Lucy Brown. In addition to Linda and Lucy’s husbands, Tony Prudente and Kevin Brown, Frank has 10 grandchildren—Christina, Frank, Kyle, Larry, Paul, Jaclyn, Michael, Katie, Kandice and Vittoria. He has two great-grandchildren, Daniela and Matthew, with another due in September. Frank also leaves behind a brother, Paul Nuzzolese, and his wife, Cynthia.
A lifelong resident of Port Washington, Frank owned and operated Nuzzolese Ice Brothers with his father, Constantino, his brothers and his nephews. He was a member of The Sons of Italy, CancerCare, The Knights of Columbus and was very involved in local politics. Frank served his community with passion as a volunteer firefighter; he was a 71-year active member of Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company. He will be missed by so many friends, colleagues and loved ones.
Frank was laid to rest at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury on Friday, Feb. 12, following his funeral at St. Peter of Alcantara Church and memorial services provided by Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company. The Nuzzolese family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the Port Washington Police Department, The John Michael Marino Lodge and most especially Atlantic Hook & Ladder, for their support, professionalism and devotion to Frank. The respectful attention Frank received during his life and in the wake of his passing were unparalleled, and will never be forgotten. Words cannot express our appreciation, and—most importantly—we know that Frank would have been beyond proud.
