The Port Washington wrestling program had another highly successful season. Following a regular season that saw the Vikings finish with a record of 14-7, the team qualified for the Nassau County playoffs, finished third in Nassau County Conference 1, had 13 wrestlers earn All-Conference honors, including five finalists, and two Nassau Qualifying Champions—Captain Michael Nahas (113 lbs.) and Bryan Novoa (132 lbs.).
Following this success, captains Michael Nahas and Teddy Tanenbaum also finished the season with All-County honors while competing in one of the top sections in all of New York State. On a personal note, Captain Tanenbaum also reached and surpassed the 100 wins record on his way to 106 career wins.
“Our dedication to improving, and working extremely hard both on and off the mats has proven paramount in our continued success,” said Vikings Wrestling Coach Anthony Schettino. “Having graduated only two seniors from this squad of dedicated All-Conference and All-County wrestlers bodes well for the future. I look forward to a productive off-season while seeing how many wrestlers put in the work to become future leaders and champions.”
To cap off this year’s season, the Schreiber wrestling team recently learned they earned the New York State Scholar Athlete Team distinction for the 8th year in a row, showing these student-athletes get the job done on the mats as well as in the classroom.
