The Tony Award-winning musical Oliver! will be presented by South Middle School on Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, March 19, at 1 and 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 349 Lakeville Rd. In the event of snow, a makeup performance is scheduled for Sunday, March 20, at 1 p.m.
Oliver! is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ touching story of Oliver Twist, an orphan who runs away to London, where he is befriended by a youthful gang of pickpockets led by Fagin and the Artful Dodger. In true Dickens’ fashion, there is a happy ending for Oliver, who is rescued by his kindly, rich uncle. Featured songs include, “Food, Glorious Food,” “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two” and “I’d Do Anything.”
