The Weber Middle School production of Guys & Dolls this weekend was a great success and all in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the show.
“This year’s Weber Middle School production of Guys & Dolls was sensational,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Mooney. “The energy and enthusiasm felt by the audience on opening night was infectious. The outstanding and talented student performances, set design, costumes and musical accompaniments demonstrated tremendous time, effort and dedication by the students, staff and parents involved. It was one show stopper after another. Congratulations to all.”
Stacey Portmore-Davies, Weber English teacher, directed the show; Allison Friedman, Weber music teacher, was musical director; and Stacey Medford, Salem 4th grade teacher, was choreographer.
One hundred and forty students were involved in the play. Student performers pulled out all the stops, especially 7th grader Ian Miller as Sky Masterson, 8th grader Noa Schacter as Sarah Browne, 8th grader Robbie Meade as Nathan Detroit, and 8th grader Arianna Asselta as Adelaide.
“All the students involved did an amazing job in Guys & Dolls,” said Allison Friedman, coadvisor of the Weber Drama Club and musical director of the show. “Our cast, crew and pit put in 110 percent effort into every rehearsal (beginning in December) and their hard work was evident by the huge success this weekend. The Weber Drama Club is also a family and not only was it great to see all the talent on stage, but backstage the students all support and encourage each other in everything they do.”
