The Fifth Annual PortFest will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the campus of Schreiber High School. The event, a community-wide arts and music festival, is organized and hosted by HEARTS (Help Enrich the Arts of Port Washington). HEARTS is an independent, grassroots nonprofit community organization whose mission is to add meaningful value to children’s lives and the community by supporting and enriching the arts in Port Washington and its public schools. Damon Gersh, founder and chairperson of HEARTS, started PortFest because he believes passionately in the importance of arts in public schools.
HEARTS is looking for volunteers and sponsors. Donate an hour or two (or more) of your time to PortFest. They need volunteers in all areas including graphic designers (can you create an online photo collage?), event planners (do you throw great parties?), volunteers to assist with crafts (are you crafty?), among other opportunities.
Some of PortFest’s sponsors are the Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation (Platinum Sponsor), Berest Dance Center (Gold Sponsor), Town of North Hempstead (Gold Sponsor), Bach to Rock (Gold Sponsor), Likeable Media (Silver Sponsor) and Anton Media Group (Silver Sponsor), to name a few.
There are other ways to get involved as well. Get the word out about your business to thousands of Port families or honor a performer or teacher in the PortFest Online Journal. Donate to their Crowdrise Campaign or sign up as a PortFest Crowdrise team member to help raise funds at www.crowdrise.com/portfest2016/fundraiser/heartspw.
