An accused drunken driver was arrested after his car allegedly hit and killed a 31-year-old pedestrian who was crossing a road in Huntington Station on Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.
Jose Gaitan, 48, was driving a Nissan Maxima southbound on Depot Road when he struck Lucas Reyes, who was running across the road near the corner of East 12th Street at 10:30 p.m., police said.
The victim was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Gaitan was charged with driving while intoxicated. He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Both the suspect and the victim are from Huntington Station.
