A Franklin Square man was arrested for DWI (Leandra’s Law) in Lake Success on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1:14 a.m.
According to police, a Third-Precinct Police Officer observed Michael A. Brown, 31, exit a 2012 black Chrysler Minivan in the vicinity of Lakeville Road and South Service Road and approach the officer. The officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. An investigation determined Brown was under the influence of alcohol and was placed into police custody, and then transported to central testing for processing.
Further investigation revealed a clear plastic bag containing a green-brownish substance, believed to be Marijuana, was found in Browns’s right front pants’ pocket.
Two female passengers, ages 4 and 10, and two male passengers, ages 9 and 10, were passengers in the minivan. The children were released to the female passenger in the front seat, who was the girlfriend of the defendant.
Brown is charged with four counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated 11.92, Driving While Intoxicated 1192.3 and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, April 25, 2016.
