The second of eight 2016 Household Hazardous Waste Disposal (S.T.O.P.-Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) and E-Waste (electronic waste) collection day for Oyster Bay Town residents is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, and will be held at the Town of Oyster Bay’s Department of Public Works, located on the Long Island Expressway Service Road at Exit 43 in Syosset according to Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone.
“For over 30 years now, the S.T.O.P. program has been a tremendous source of pride for the town,” Macagnone said. “Residents can take advantage of each of these collection dates for hazardous waste and dispose of potentially dangerous materials in a guaranteed safe manner. Each year, the S.T.O.P program makes significant progress towards one of the top priorities for the Oyster Bay Town Board, namely the protection of Long Island’s underground aquifer system, a vital component to our water supply.”
The hours for hazardous waste collection are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents who would like further information on the S.T.O.P. program can call 516-677-5943. Additionally, the town offers an informative brochure about the S.T.O.P., e-waste and drug collection programs, including a list of what can be disposed of and the schedule of collection days and locations for 2016. The next S.T.O.P Collection date will be on Saturday, June 11.
