“On behalf of the Massapequa board of education and administration, I extend my sincerest gratitude to the registered voters of our community for approving the 2016-17 school budget; a budget that passed with a resounding approval rating of just under 80 percent,” said Superintendent of Schools Lucille F. Iconis. “In addition, I want to thank the community for authorizing the athletic field renovation at Berner Middle School. The renovation represents a significant upgrade to the district’s athletic facilities and I look forward to our students and community benefiting from this upgrade for many years to come.”

As for the board of education trustee seat, incumbent Timothy Taylor won with 2,879 votes, surpassing M. David, who had 1,136 votes.
“Your affirmation is the fuel that drives our students and district to greater success. I commend you for supporting our high caliber academic, athletic and arts programs that are so vital to students’ growth and development,” added Iconis. “Because of you, our youngsters are part of a school district that applauds its students both inside and outside of the classroom as scholars, musicians, artists, scientists, athletes and volunteers. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments. Thank you for your confidence in us as we continue the legacy of excellence that Massapequa exemplifies.”
