Massapequa Park Garden Club Meeting
Propagation, the art of growing your own plants, will be the topic of the meeting of the Massapequa Park Garden Club. The public is invited to watch horticulturist Gary Fischer demonstrate and explain this useful gardening skill. Meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the basement meeting room of Massapequa Park Village Hall, 151 Front St., Massapequa Park. Refreshments will be served.
Horticulture Lecture
Come see Pauley The Plant Guy give a great talk on annuals and perennials that will do well in your spring and summer garden. He will bring in live plants to use during his talk. From 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bar Harbour auditorium.

Massapequa Talks
YES Community Counseling Center and Massapequa Takes Action Coalition are hosting a town hall meeting, Massapequa Talks, sponsored by SAMHSA about the heroin epidemic. A listening panel of local government officials and community leaders as well as the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, the 7th Precinct and the Massapequa School District, will be taking note of the serious issues that community members present. Afterwards there will be plans made of how to proactively address the core concerns. Brian Moore Memorial
New York City Police Department Detective First-Grade Brian Moore, who died in the line of duty on May 4, 2015, while serving the residents of New York City, will have a special dedication ceremony held in his memory at the Town of Oyster Bay’s Plainedge Park on Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m. The event will include a statue unveiling and building dedication.
Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Looking for personal care items, seasonings and hot sauces and items other than candy. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knight of Columbus Council, 2 Eastgate Rd., Massapequa Park.
Annual Paintball Shootout
Come to the Lufbery Aerodrome at Cedar Creek Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a paintball shootout event. Rain date is May 22. Boys and girls of all ages may participate with adult supervision required for those under 12-years-old. Participants try to shoot down radio control planes with paintballs in a controlled setting that is sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). For more information, call 516-326-0855. Best Buddies Long Island Friendship Walk
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD). The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the number one walk in the country raising awareness and funds to support individuals with IDD. The walk will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Marjorie Post Park, located at the corner of Merrick Road and Unqua Road. Teen Takeover Mondays
Every Monday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., teens get to take over the auditorium. Enjoy open play with video games on Wii U and XBOX 360, play Minecraft, check out the collection of board games and hang out with friends every Monday in the Bar Harbour auditorium. Art Workshop
Come to the Bar Harbour meeting room from 10 a.m. to noon for an art workshop. This workshop is for painters with some prior experience using oils and acrylics. Beginners can paint using oil pastels, regular pastels or colored pencils. Workshop may include portraits, still life, teacher’s reference materials or your photographs. Class size is limited. $55 due at registration. No refunds unless the class is canceled. Bring a table easel and your own supplies.

Library Lecture Series #1: Free Speech and the Constitution. Join adjunct professor, James Coll, for his informative lecture, Free Speech and the Constitution. Knit and Crochet
Come to the Plainedge Pu blic Library and join Angie Gallo as she guides you through the steps learning how to knit or crochet. You can bring your own project or choose from the many instruction books available. Please bring knitting worsted weight yarn and a #9 needle for knitting or a H or I hook for crocheting.
