Mastic Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A 41-year-old motorcyclist from Mastic was killed in a crash in Islip Terrace on Tuesday morning.

Suffolk County police said Alexander Rivera was riding a Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway when he struck the back bumper of an SUV, then hit the back of a tractor-trailer, lost control of his motorcycle and fell off east of Saxon Avenue at 8:10 a.m.

The victim was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead. The other two drivers were not injured.

Third Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-854-8352.
