As if sweet and creamy ice cream wasn’t enough to get you to Carvel, with original flavors of chocolate, vanilla and the classic twist putting smiles on people’s faces, then perhaps the new soft serve flavor will. That’s right, soft serve ice cream made with Ghirardelli.
“I love how it’s so much chocolate and it gives a lot of texture to it,” said Jillian Cynar, of North Massapequa who enjoyed Ghirardelli in a cone before her dance recital.
Just in time for the summer, Carvel is giving chocolate lovers another way to indulge with their latest flavor innovation: soft ice cream made with Ghirardelli. This is the first time Carvel has offered soft ice cream made with Ghirardelli in its shoppes throughout the country. Ghirardelli is on the heels of the most recent flavor—the extremely popular soft serve Oreo.
“Our new soft ice cream made with Ghirardelli has just the right amount of chocolatey richness blended into our signature fresh ice cream,” said Scott Colwell, president of Carvel. “We’re excited to be able to use Carvel innovation to give our guests another flavor they have been asking for. We’re sure our newest flavor made is going to be a big hit this summer.”
The limited chocolate indulgence, is only available through July 31, so get a taste before it’s gone. Sweet treats include Carvel’s chocolate ice cream blended with Ghirardelli chocolate sauce, a Sundae Dasher with Ghirardelli, a milkshake and Flying Saucers, all of which include the liquid gold.
“It tastes like chocolate covered marshmallows,” said Johnny Cynar, who attends Schwarting Elementary School. “It’s yummy,” added Dennis DeMille, who polished off a large cone with ease.
Established in 1934, Carvel is always thinking of ways to introduce new flavors.
“We wanted to give our guests a decadent treat
for those hot summer days and Ghirardelli is a perfect fit,” said Colwell, adding that Ghirardelli won’t be sticking around past July 31, but there is always the possibility for it to come back in the future, if guests want it back, that is.
Not a chocolate person? Carvel invites those non-chocolate fans to try the decadent flavor, which although is more chocolaty than regular chocolate ice cream, might entice non-believers.
