Journalism Awards For Chariot Staff

New Hyde Park Memorial High School’s 2015-2016 Chariot staff accumulated 39 individual awards at the Long Island Press High School Journalism Awards held at Hofstra University.
The event, attended by several top high schools on Long Island, honored and recognized outstanding journalistic achievements at the high school level. Congratulations to senior Vishruth Girish, who received honorable mention for Student Journalist of the Year, seniors Abir Petiwala and Yahya Sheikh for placing third for Story of the Year, and adviser Michael Stencel, who was named High School Newspaper Adviser of the Year.
The paper, led by Editors-in-Chief Gregory Kothesakis and Christina Panouis, also received second place for Best Overall School Newspaper on Long Island.
