Summer Reading Club
“On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!” Registration for this year’s Summer Reading Club begins at 9:05 a.m. in person in the Children’s Room. No online registration. First day to submit reading lists is Monday, July 11.
Family Fun Time
Register at the library for this three-class program taking place the Tuesdays of July 5, 12 and 19 at 10 a.m. Some stories and a simple craft for ages 1½-5.
Creative Art
Register at the library for this two-class program taking place the Tuesdays of July 5 and 12 at 4 p.m. “I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream!” Students will work on an ice cream sundae painting/collage. This is a two week project. Plan on attending both classes. Cost is $4.
Wednesday, July 6
Tiny Tots Storytime
Register at the library for this three-part class taking place the Wednesdays of July 6, 13 and 20 at 11 a.m. Twenty minutes of age-appropriate songs and stories for young children ages 2-3.
Zumba
Register online for this class held on Wednesdays from July 6 through Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. No class on August 24. Fee: $28 check or money order. Limit: 35.
Studio Art
Classes will be held the Wednesdays of July 6 and 13 at 7:15 p.m. Fee: $4. What is “A Cup of Fantasy”? Students will draw and paint this multi-textured artwork. This is a two week project. Plan on attending both classes. Register online.
Friday, July 8
Preschool Storycraft
Register online for this three-class program taking place the Fridays of July 8, 15 and 22 at 11 a.m. Some stories and a simple craft for ages 3-5.
Writing Club
At 1:30 p.m., the Hicksville Public Library Writing Club offers a writing lesson, an in-class writing prompt and the opportunity to read and critique both it and any longer pieces penned at home. Those with all levels of experience, including beginners and interests in all genres are welcome.
Monday, July 11
Sports Star Backpack
Register online for this 4 p.m. class for students on grades kindergarten through fifth. Participants will paint a canvas backpack with their choice of colors, then embellish with gems and slick paints, spray paints and glitter paint. Dress for a mess as paints are permanent. Material fee is $4.
