“Sabreen, Ayesha and Vikram are incredibly bright students whose talents have earned them national recognition,” said Martins. “It’s a wonderful reward for their many hours of research, study and hard work. Congratulations to these three young rising stars on what I’m sure will be the first of many incredible achievements.”

Participants from all across the country, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands competed in the talent search, considered the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science competition. Bhuiya, Chhugani and Krishamoorthy were three of only 300 semifinalists chosen from entries nationwide.

Martins presented the students with legislative resolutions he sponsored, which were passed by the Senate, in recognition of their accomplishment. With passage of the resolutions, their names and achievement will forever be part of the New York state Senate’s official record.
