The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of two women for Possession of a Forged Instrument on Saturday, July 30, at 8:45 P.M. in East Garden City.
According to Crimes Against Property detectives, Third Precinct officers were notified by Roosevelt Field security of two female Hispanics passing counterfeit bills. Eighteen-year-old Eskarlin Pena, and 16-year-old Marywil Gomez the Bronx entered Vera Bradley located at 630 Old Country Rd. and made purchases using counterfeit $100 dollar bills. Third Precinct officers located the defendants and placed them under arrest without incident. Pena was found to be in possession of three additional $100 dollar counterfeit bills and Gomez was in possession of four additional $100 dollar counterfeit bills. No injuries were reported.
Pena is charged with five counts of first-degree possession of a forged instrument and Gomez is charged with six counts of first-degree possession of a forged instrument. They will be arraigned on Sunday, July 31 at First District Court in Hempstead.
