Butterfly Garden Project Underway

GardenNorth Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth recently attended Clark Botanic Garden to meet with instructors and interns from Nassau County Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) who are working with BOCES Regent high school students on a special summer project hosted at Clark Botanic Garden. The BOCES students are learning garden design and will be working on a reconstruction of Clark’s butterfly garden. Once complete, the butterfly garden will include flowers and plants that attract butterflies and other pollinators.  Some of the plants to be included will be Prairie Blazing Star, Purple Cone Flowers, Butterfly Milkweed, Bee Balm and Rudbeckia or Black Eyed Susan’s. The Fanny Dwight Clark Memorial Garden Inc., will be helping to fund this program with a $500 grant from the Scott’s Foundation.
