Eileen Quinn O’Reilly, formerly of Plandome, NY, passed away on June 11th, at the age of 94, in Sun City Center, Florida. Mrs. O’Reilly was born on January 1, 1922 to Lena and Peter Quinn, of Queens, NY. She attended Bayside High School and later worked for Catholic Charities in New York City.
In 1947, she met and became engaged to Edward J. O’Reilly, moved to Hempstead later to Bayside, Queens and then to Plandome where they raised four children. In the early 1990s the O’Reillys retired to Sun City Center.
Mrs. O’Reilly was an accomplished vocalist and soloist for her church choir at St. Kevin’s Catholic Church in Bayside, St. Mary’s in Manhasset and with the choir at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Florida. She was a classically trained soprano and sang the National Anthem at many community events in Plandome and Manhasset.
She studied for and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1969, and worked in emergency medicine for several years. She was a member of the Plandome Women’s Club.
Mrs. O’Reilly is survived by her sister, Madeline Young of Bethpage, NY; her children, Eileen Thompson of Thousand Oaks, CA, Edward Peter O’Reilly of Manchester, NH, John O’Reilly of Port Washington, NY, and Mary Lee Schroeter of Essex CT; her 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s, Manhasset on Saturday, August 6th, with burial at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
