Human Skull Found in Ronkonkoma Woods

A bicyclist found a human skull in a wooded area of Ronkonkoma over the weekend, Suffolk County police said.

A man riding on his mountain bike in the woods north of Express Drive North made the discovery and called police at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Investigators believe the human remains have been there for an extended period. They have not been identified.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
