Four large planters supplied by the Chamber and trash cans were upended late Sunday evening. FB Manhasset Watchdog column had a report from a woman who was returning home at 12:45 a.m. and noticed the mess. Next person noted 1 a.m. vandalism. There were a total of four planters on the east side of Plandome Rd from the bridge (Chocolate Works) to Adelinas Hair Salon involved (that’s Maple Place to Webster Ave). A police report has been filed by Raffaella Marcerari, MCC Treasurer & Chairperson of Beautification Committee (VP of Chase Bank). Luckily there was no damage to the planters which weigh several hundred pounds, but an unknown source righted them and shoveled the debris back into the planters. (Whoever you are, A BIG THANK YOU). The stones that were on the bottom are now on the top and the plants are, of course, dead. There is a great expense to the Chamber to have these planters repotted and plants replaced. Needless to say I, along with the whole committee and many residents, are devastated. David Patterson suggested police patrol Plandome Road when the last trains come in which could make a difference in the safety of our town.
