The LAC (Levittown Athletic Club) Girls Fast Pitch Softball League would like to officially invite you to our first annual “Batting to Beat Childhood Cancers” fundraiser event to be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Azalea Road Park in Levittown. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay. Unlike any other hospital, the majority of our funding comes from individual contributions. And thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude.
The event will feature two charity softball games, the first at 10:30 a.m., which will feature the Division Avenue High School Girls Varsity Softball Team playing against the Island Trees High School Girls Varsity Softball Team. The second game, scheduled for 2 p.m. will feature the LAC parents and coaches.
There will be a check presentation ceremony at 1 p.m. where special guests and sponsors will be recognized and a check will be presented to St. Jude representatives, who will be in attendance. A chorus student from Division Avenue High School will sing the Nation Anthem before the 2 p.m. game and St. Jude Reps. will throw out the first pitch. The BTOA for the ceremony will be 12:45 p.m.
In addition to the games, the event will feature, local merchants, food trucks, children’s bounce house and games, raffle drawings, popcorn/cotton candy, the Levittown/ Island Trees Girls Scouts, and the Hofstra Women’s Softball Team. LAC is offering all day batting cage instruction and mini pitching clinics as well throughout the day.
Tremendous support has been received from both the Levittown and Island Trees communities.
