Picture-perfect weather greeted guests of the Eden II Programs and Genesis Foundation
during the 17th Annual Genesis Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 26, at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success.
Proceeds benefited Eden II Programs’ Genesis School, which provides programs and services for children and adults with autism. This year’s honorees were Christina Thivierge, Esq., and Long Island Community Chest for their steadfast support of the Genesis School.
Christina Thivierge, Esq., is a cofounding partner and principal of Thivierge & Rothberg, PC, a private law firm founded in 2008 that exclusively handles special-education matters. From 2000 through 2008, Thivierge was the senior associate at Mayerson & Associates, where she handled special-education matters primarily for children and adolescents with autism-spectrum disorders and related disabilities. She is a stepparent to a young man with autism.
Long Island Community Chest was founded by Matt Silver and Jamie Austin when they realized that many families were slipping through the cracks, needing a little help to get them back on the right track. Their mission was to prevent short-term family crises from turning into long-term problems. They created an organization that would provide opportunities for individuals and companies to give back to the local community in a positive and uplifting way. Today, Long Island Community Chest is comprised of individuals and companies based on Long Island that are making a difference.
The Eden II and Genesis Foundation, previously known as FAAP, is a nonprofit organization that provides much-needed funds for programs and services that support individuals with autism. Their day schools for children, as well as day and residential services for adolescents and adults, serve Nassau and Suffolk Counties and New York City.
“It was a perfect day for golfers. We had people travel from throughout New York and even Pennsylvania to be here today,” said Executive Director of Eden II Programs Dr. Joanne Gerenser. “I’m proud to call Christina and Long Island Community Chest friends of the Genesis School. I’m thrilled to have the chance to recognize their great advocacy and achievements for the autism community.”
