A 66-year-old crossing guard was fatally hit by a Mack truck in her hometown of Hempstead over the weekend.
Nassau County police said Virginia Leviner was struck at the corner of South Franklin Avenue and Grove Street at 7:25 a.m. Friday.
She was taken to Winthrop University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The truck was tested at the scene. The driver was not charged. Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
