Did you serve our country as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces—or do you know someone who did in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Desert Storm or Iraq/Afghanistan?
If you or someone you know served valiantly in any branch of the military, come out and support Great Neck’s Veterans Day parade. Show pride for your service as well as that of other local service men and women on Friday, Nov. 11, rain or shine.
Louise McCann, Commander of The American Legion Charles A. Fowler, Jr. Post #160, will lead the parade as she has for the past three years under the auspices of the Gilliar-Norwill Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #372, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Great Neck Alert and Vigilant fire companies.
“We must never forget that our freedoms are preserved by the fighting men and women of our military,” said McCann. “It is important for us to remember the heroism of those who have served our nation and those who continue to serve.”
The parade will commence at the Alert Firehouse at 555 Middle Neck Rd. at 10:45 a.m., sharp, and will proceed north to the Village Green, where a short ceremony will be held at the Wall of Remembrance at the north end of the Green.
Marchers will include members of the Great Neck Alert and Vigilant fire companies, along with elected officials and Great Neck Boy and Girl Scouts, who will honor and remember those who fought and those who are still defending our nation.
Seating at the Village Green in available for all veterans and service members and their families. For seating reservations and more information, call 516-869-7694 or email grays@northhempsteadny.gov.
