Parking Out Of Control

ltrmcgovern_110216a(Letter sent to Judi Bosworth and asked to be printed here.)

I need your help. I ask that you send an unmarked ticket agent to patrol Locust Street south of Hillside Ave. in Manhasset at 9 a.m. on a weekday and return at 10:30 a.m. and ticket every illegally parked car. I would then ask that regular patrols commence following that action. The street is a 90-minute parking area Monday-Friday, and is only two blocks off of Plandome Road. I ask for an unmarked agent because on the rare occasion the neighborhood agent comes on the block, his first stop is in the garage for a cup of coffee.

Now I will give you details as to why I ask for the actions above.

I reside on Locust Street. There is a garage (repair shop) across the street from me. The business rents out their parking spots to commuters and uses the street as a means to conduct their business. It is out of control. I have used 311 and called the Nassau County Police Dept at times that my driveway have been blocked. I am attaching supporting documentation.

A) A submission to 311 online filled out on Sept. 7 which resulted in no action. The printout is as of today with no updates on my submission.

B) Is a commuter car that is parked outside of my house every day. The commuter leaves a set of keys with the garage and goes to the station.

C) Is an employee of the garage, parks on the street all day every day.

D) Is an employee of the garage, parks on the street all day every day.

E) Is an employee of the garage, parks on the street all day every day.

F) Is an example of a car blatantly blocking my driveway, they parked late in the evening and left it overnight.

G) Cars blatantly parked in the street, worth noting there is a fire hydrant at the end of the block and these two cars were left unattended, not during operating hours and were blocking a hydrant. I consider this a safety hazard for my family.

H) A typical day, you will note the car in exhibit E is parked by the telephone poll. This is a typical day, there are days that are far worse where this little dead end in Manhasset looks like a city street.

I am asking for your assistance. I guarantee your records will show a complete lack of ticket activity relevant to the situation I have illustrated. We personally have seen one ticket written in the past three months. My wife is a stay-at-home mom and knows what happens on the block.

Please help.
