Five Garden City High School seniors, Andrew Nagel, Mairead Pfaff, Seunghyun Woo, James Rumsey and Suzanne Sanossian, were awarded this year’s Adelphi Prize for Leadership. At the Oct. 13 Board of Education meeting, the students were honored by Board President Angela Heineman and Superintendent of Schools Robert Feirsen. On Sept. 16, the recipients attended a reception at Adelphi University where they were awarded a memento in recognition of their accomplishments, a check for $1,000, and the opportunity to register for two tuition-free courses at Adelphi.
“These students were selected because they have leadership qualities,” said Feirsen. “There is an extensive process to be considered for the Leadership Prize. Rising seniors must fill out an application, provide a transcript, include recommendations, and submit an essay – it’s a rigorous process.”
